Police continue search for teenager, 28-year-old

TEXARKANA, Ark. -- Another suspect in the March 19 shooting that left one man dead and a child with a leg injury has surrendered to police.

Kolbie Jomil Hemphill, 22, was arrested Wednesday morning on a charge of first-degree murder, according to Texarkana Arkansas Police Department.

Police now have in custody three of the five men wanted in the death of Michael Clark, 24.

Daequan Williams, 18, and Kheuma Gilliam, 18, also have been arrested on charges of first-degree murder and unlawful discharging of a firearm from a vehicle. Gilliam also faces charges of first-degree battery and possession of a weapon by certain persons.

Police continue to look for Tamarion McCoy, 18, and Christopher Tyler, 28. The men also face charges of first-degree murder and unlawful discharging of a firearm from a vehicle.

The murder charges are enhanced with engaging in violent group activity.

Gilliam, Hemphill and Williams remain in Miller County Detention Center.

Bail for Gilliam and Williams is $750,000 each. Hemphill is awaiting arraignment.

No other information was available Wednesday afternoon.

The shooting happened March 19 during a community event at Pinehurst and Grove streets.

At 8:08 p.m., 911 received calls of gunfire in the area. At 8:13, another 911 call was placed about a vehicle accident at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Hazel Street.

The people in the accident were transporting a 6-year-old child who had been struck in the leg by a bullet to the hospital. The child was taken by another person from the crash scene to a local hospital, and later transferred to a Little Rock hospital for further treatment.

About an hour later, at 9:25 p.m., CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital called police to report a male who was in the emergency room with a gunshot wound. The man was identified as Clark, who later died.
