The eighth annual Cooper Tire Big Bass Fishing Tournament scheduled for May 6 has changed locations at Millwood Lake.

The event's launching, which was originally going to take place at Yarborough Landing, will now be at the both the lake's Millwood State park and Jack's Isle.

"Yarborough Landing is slated for a major construction project that will start this week," said Dylan Hann of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. "Monies are now available and they have to get the project completed before the budget runs out in July."

Cooper Tire tournament coordinator Kyle Thomas said he understood the importance of the upgrades and needing to change locations.

"It's going to be an awesome day to be on the lake and support a worthy organization," he said.

All weigh-ins will be at Millwood State Park and no weigh-ins will be by trailer.

The annual tournament, which is held at the nearly 30,000-acre lake outside of Ashdown, Arkansas, netted close to $37,000 benefiting United Way of Greater Texarkana last year. About $35,000 was also given away as prize money and raffle items.

Entry fee is $80 per person and a valid fishing license is required. Registrations can be turned into Baits-N-Blades at 3302 Richmond Road or mailed to Kyle Thomas, Sheryl Porter or Vickie Law at 3500 Washington Ave., Texarkana, AR, 71854.

Eric Thomas won last year's event with a 6.12 pound bass.
