Magic Springs Theme and Water Park, which opens today, is holding a 45th birthday celebration this season.

"By next weekend you'll have not only the thrill rides, family rides and the kiddie rides to enjoy, but also the pools and slides," Michelle Keeney, marketing and sales director at the park, said, referring to next weekend's opening of Crystal Falls, the water park.

After being out of commission last year, the Arkansas Twister, a fan favorite, will reopen, while other favorites such as Big Bad John will also be available for patrons to enjoy. The park will also present a series of concerts, starting June 3, with musical acts for every type of listener.

"We have a great lineup of concerts and special events for really all ages," Keeney said. "So there's something for everybody all summer."

We The Kingdom, a chart-topping Christian band, kicks off the music series June 3 followed by shows every Saturday until Labor Day for a total of 14 concerts. Music genres include rock, country, pop, R&B and Christian.

"There's really going to be something for everyone who's a music lover," she said. "Regardless of what kind of music you like. You'll be able to come out and enjoy a concert."

As for special events, the staples like Magic Screams will make a return this fall, while the park introduces a foam party in the wave pool and a luau for the summer. Starting in June with Super Hero Day, the special events will continue into the summer with three Family Fun Fridays in July that feature extended hours for the wave pool.

The park will also celebrate 45 years with a birthday bash this season.

On Friday, May 19, the park will host a special school day event, opening exclusively for schools. Keeney said schools are encouraged to get their orders in as quickly as they can to come enjoy the educational exhibits at the park as well as the rides, slides and pools.

Saturday day passes are $59.99 while Sunday through Friday admission is $39.99 per day. Season passes are $69.99, but a discounted rate of $59.99 applies when four or more passes are bought before June. These include access to Magic Screams, parking, a day ticket for a friend (with certain restrictions) and a souvenir bottle that allows for $2 drink refills all season.

Gold passes, which include all of that plus a golden bring-a-friend ticket that is good for any day and a combo meal for every visit, are $139.98. Unlike the regular pass, gold passes are not restricted to a deadline to receive benefits like parking and souvenir bottles.

With the season running today through Oct. 29, the park will operate on weekends until Memorial Day when it switches to opening daily. In mid-August, the park returns to weekend-only operation for the remainder of the season.

Park hours this weekend will be noon to 6 p.m. Into the summer, hours will be extended with earlier opening times and later park closing. Keeney said the best place to check park hours for specific days is the website.

"Really, just for the best deals that we have available, always check magicsprings.com," she said. "It's going to give you all the information, all of our events and all of our pricing."
