TEXARKANA, Texas -- The city is reminding residents interested in applying to serve on municipal boards and commissions that they can apply online.

Last year, the city had several positions filled through the online process. Municipal staff are encouraging even more community involvement.

A current list of each city board and commission, along with current appointments and openings, can be found at www.ci.Texarkana.tx.us/370/Boards-and-Commissions.

"From the airport board to the University Planned Development District, the recommendations provided by many of our resident boards and commissions are a very important part of the local government process," Mayor Bob Bruggeman said in a prepared statement. "Anyone interested is invited to apply for a position on a board or commission, serving the city of Texarkana, Texas."

Some of the boards, commissions and committees have residency requirements or require special skills and knowledge. All appointees are required to attend regularly scheduled meetings.

Applicants to municipal boards, commissions or committees that are currently full will be held for council consideration as vacancies open up.
