NEW BOSTON, Texas --A Texarkana store manager charged with two counts of sexual assault of a child has been found guilty by a Bowie County jury.

The jury was deliberating sentencing for Anurag Dubey, 32, of Texarkana, Texas, late Friday.

Jurors went into deliberations about 11:40 a.m. Friday and returned with the guilty verdict just before 4 p.m.

The charge, a second-degree felony, carries a punishment range of two to 20 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.

Dubey was charged in 2021 for allegedly sexually assaulting a teenage girl who worked at the Tropical Smoothie Restaurant he managed. He was arrested Aug. 27, 2021, and released on a $100,000 bond the next day, according to court records.

Testimony began Wednesday in Bowie County's 5th District Court with Judge Bill Miller presiding.

Dubey is represented by Texarkana attorney Shorty Barrett.

The police investigation into the case revealed Dubey allegedly started calling the employee, who was 16 at the time, in to work before her shift started.

According to prosecutors, once the girl got to work, Dubey would initiate sexual activity with her. He then allegedly gave her extra money and vaping juice in return for her not telling anyone about what was going on.

The girl later told her mother about the alleged assaults.

The girl had only been working at the Texas Boulevard restaurant about two months when the abuse began, according to the affidavit.
