HOPE, Ark. -- Hope High School is moving forward with graduation May 19 despite the threat of showers and thunderstorms in the forecast.

Commencement is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the high school stadium.

In a media release sent about 3:45 p.m. Friday, Hope Public Schools said it plans to hold the ceremony out of respect for the family, friends and community members anticipating the event.

"Please be flexible in case we need to delay part of the ceremony if weather does not cooperate," the district said in a news release. "We will only postpone the service to tomorrow if the weather becomes more severe."

If commencement is postponed, the ceremony will be 10:30 a.m. May 20 in Hempstead Hall at the University of Arkansas at Hope, 2500 S. Main St.
