TEXARKANA, Texas -- Texarkana Independent School District's Board of Trustees has appointed a new principal for Waggoner Creek Elementary School.
Waggoner Creek's outgoing principal, Angie Griffin, is retiring. Martha and Josh Morriss Mathematics and Engineering Elementary School Assistant Principal Dr. Kasey Coggin is taking over the position.
Coggin has previously worked at Texarkana College as a coordinator of allied health, as Redwater Elementary School Principal from 2016 to 2021 and as an elementary school teacher. The newly appointed principal is also an adjunct professor at TAMU-T.
"Dr. Coggin brings a wealth of experience, a passion for education and a deep commitment to student success. Throughout her career, she has held various leadership positions and has demonstrated exceptional abilities in instructional leadership, fostering strong relationships with students, parents, and staff, and implementing innovative teaching practices," TISD Superintendent Dr. Doug Brubaker said.
Coggin will start in her new position July 1.
