TEXARKANA, Texas -- A man has been charged with a felony after allegedly attempting to grab a gun off a security officer's belt during a Nov. 1 disturbance at a local hospital.
Willy Kidd, 35, is being held in Bi-State Detention Center on a $50,000 bail, according to jail records.
Kidd reportedly was behaving normally Nov. 1 when he was first brought to CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital but suddenly "began acting erratically," according to a probable cause affidavit.
While medical personnel were checking his vital signs, Kidd allegedly cursed at the staff and threw a wet-floor sign at the ceiling. Kidd allegedly walked out of the facility but returned and allegedly threw a chair in the direction of an employee, according to the affidavit.
When approached by hospital security outside, where his family members were attempting to calm him, Kidd allegedly reached for the guard's gun, according to the affidavit.
Hospital security placed Kidd in handcuffs and held him until police arrived.
