TEXARKANA, Texas -- Pleasant Grove made quick work of a hot Class 2A team, defeating Detroit in three straight sets, 25-11, 25-22, 25-15, on Friday evening.
Pleasant Grove (24-5) had huge contributions from several of its players in the win.
Ellis Miller had a team-high 12 points served, Whitney Thornton added 11 points and had 12 assists, Lauren Stewart had 10 kills, Madison Carpenter finished with nine kills, Abigail Boehmke recorded 12 digs and Julianne Naples contributed with 17 set assists.
The Lady Hawks' junior varsity Gold team won, 25-12, 25-13. Miley Cook scorched the opponents with 14 points.
Emori Huddleston scored 11 points to help lead the JV Black squad to a 25-17, 25-18 victory over Detroit.
Pleasant Grove, which has won eight of its last 10 matches and are currently on a four-game win streak, will hit the road to play Beckville on Tuesday and will be back at home on Friday to host Paris in a final tune-up game before district play.

PG wins two of three on Play Day
MOUNT PLEASANT, Texas -- Pleasant Grove's ninth-graders played three matches while taking two on Play Day.
The Lady Hawks defeated Rivercrest, 25-5, 21-25, 15-1, with Kathryn Murphy scoring a team-high 17 points. They also took down Harmony, 25-22, 25-17.
Pleasant Grove's only defeat came to North Lamar, 15-25, 19-25.
