Bramlett receives Heroes for Children Award from TEA

TEXARKANA, Texas -- Former mayor James Bramlett has been selected as a recipient of the Texas Education Agency's Heroes for Children award.

Bramlett was nominated by Pleasant Grove Independent School District for serving on the PGISD Education Foundation board since its creation and helping to raise over $900,000 for classroom resources. He also has served on Liberty-Eylau Independent School District's Education Foundation, volunteering over 100 hours and raising over $175,000 for teacher grants.

As Farmers Bank & Trust's Texarkana market president, Bramlett came up with the idea to provide scholarships to members of the Arkansas High and Texas High football teams. He also volunteers to read books to elementary students.
