Nonprofit provides more than 3,500 free coronavirus tests

MENA, Ark. - A nonprofit health network has provided thousands of free coronavirus tests in Arkansas this year and continues to offer low-cost or no-cost testing at its clinics.

Since late may, Healthy Connections Inc. has given 3,544 free tests at events in 11 Arkansas counties, including almost 600 on July 19 at the Four States Fairground in Texarkana, according to a news release.

Health Connections' next pop-up testing event is Aug. 16 at the farmers' market in Hot Springs. The company also offers testing at its clinics in Mena, Little Rock, Hot Springs, Malvern, Arkadelphia, Mount Ida and De Queen.

Healthy Connections accepts Medicaid, ArKids 1st, Medicare and most private health insurance. There is also a sliding-fee scale for patients without health insurance who qualify. Health insurance companies are waiving all copays for COVID-19 testing.
