Bowie County COVID-19 cases increase

 

TEXARKANA, Texas - Positive COVID-19 cases have increased by 21 in Bowie County, according to information from the county's Emergency Operations Center.

The operations center reports 21 new cases from the weekend, for a total of 268 positive COVID-19 cases, with 119 recoveries and 16 related deaths. Cass County has a total 44 cases with 36 recoveries, and two deaths. Cass County's count increase by eight from the Friday total of 36 cases.

Of Bowie County's new cases, there is no concentration around one facility or business, but rather the cases are widespread and sources are varied, according to information from the operations center.

Officials warn residents to stay home when possible and wear a face covering when leaving home. Residents should use social distancing at all times.

The Bowie County/Texarkana, Texas, Joint Operations Center is still conducting contact tracing on positive cases, so if someone test positive for COVID-19, or are a healthcare provider that conducts COVID testing, please notify the Local Health Authority at 903-255-5560.

Elsewhere in East Texas, Morris County increased by one to 38 cases, Red River County remained at 105 and Titus County increased by 20 cases to a total of 697.

Case counts in Southwest Arkansas increased in six of the eight counties. Miller County rose to from 101 to 114. Sevier increased from 648 to 693. Howard rose from 75 to 86 and Hempstead County increased from 47 to 50. Nevada County remained at 101. Little River County remained at 38 cases and Pike County increased from seven to eight.

Caddo Parrish in Northwest Louisiana reported 3,260 cases. Bossier Parrish reported 836 cases. Statewide, Louisiana reported 57,081 cases with 3,091 deaths and Texas reported 153,011 cases with 2,403 deaths. Arkansas reported 20,257 cases with 265 deaths.

The CDC reported 2,545,250 cases with 126,369 deaths nationwide.
