TEXARKANA, Texas - The Texarkana Public Library will reopen to the public Monday, after weeks when only drive-through service was available because of coronavirus concerns.

For safety and to maintain limited occupancy, library staff ask patrons to come and go for services, with a 30-minute time limit.

Patrons may use the library only to check out books or to use the photocopier, fax machine and public computers. The drive-through window will continue to be available.

"This will be temporary as we monitor the health situation in our community and adhere to local and state directives," Director Jennifer Strayhorn said in an email.

Library hours will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

The library's summer reading program for children, this year titled "Imagine Your Story," will begin Monday, as well. Parents can register children through the library's website or pick up a form at the library.
