More COVID-19 deaths in Miller, Bowie counties

From Thursday to Monday, Miller County, Arkansas, reported one additional death because of COVID-19 and Bowie County, Texas, reported two.

The death toll in Miller County reached 14, according to the Arkansas Department of Health, and Bowie County's reached 78, according to the local emergency Joint Operations Center.

Miller County's cumulative total of confirmed coronavirus cases increased by more than 90, from 1,109 to 1,202, according to ADH, with 973 recoveries and 215 active cases, according to ADH.

Elsewhere in Southwest Arkansas, Lafayette County's case count rose from 144 to 151, Pike County's from 251 to 254, Nevada County's from 265 to 274, Little River County's from 402 to 411, Hempstead County's from 481 to 499, Howard County's from 510 to 524 and Sevier County's from 1,221 to 1,237.

Bowie County's total case count increased from 1,746 to 1,788, with 1,230 recoveries, according to the JOC. The Texas Department of State Health Services estimates 414 active cases in the county.

In Northeast Texas, Red River County's case count rose from 190 to 196, Morris County's from 209 to 217, Cass County's from 477 to 498 and Titus County's from 1,562 to 1,586, according to TDSHS.

In Northwest Louisiana, Caddo Parish's case count increased from 9,855 to 10,046 and Bossier Parish's from 4,082 to 4,212, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

Statewide, Arkansas reported 99,410 cumulative cases and 1,833 deaths so far, Louisiana reported 180,069 cases and 5,648 deaths, and Texas reported 867,075 cases and 17,514 deaths.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 8,617,022 cases so far in the U.S., with a national death toll of 224,601.
