TEXARKANA — Active cases of COVID-19 fell from Thursday to Monday in both Miller County, Arkansas, and Bowie County, Texas.
Miller County's active cases decreased from 34 to 19 and Bowie County's from 559 to 512, according to the Arkansas Department of Health and the Texas Department of State Health Services, respectively.
Miller County's total confirmed case count rose by 11 in that time, from 2,477 to 2,488, with 2,449 recoveries and 20 deaths.
Bowie County reported an additional death because of COVID-19, bringing the county's total to 172, while total cases rose by eight, from 4,502 to 4,510. There have been 5,764 recoveries in the county.
Elsewhere in Southwest Arkansas from Thursday to Monday, Lafayette County's case count held at 347, while Nevada County's increased from 620 to 622, Pike County's from 724 to 726, Little River's from 844 to 847, Howard County's from 982 to 986, Hempstead County's from 1,359 to 1,365 and Sevier County's from 1,737 to 1,738, according to ADH.
In Northeast Texas, Red River County's case count rose from 386 to 390, Morris County's from 556 to 560, Cass County's from 1,103 to 1,111 and Titus County's from 2,624 to 2,632, according to TDSHS.
In Northwest Louisiana from Thursday to Monday, Caddo Parish's case count increased from 24,407 to 24,500 and Bossier Parish's from 12,842 to 12,869, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.
Statewide, Arkansas reported 249,847 confirmed cases and 5,363 deaths on Monday, Louisiana reported 424,644 cases and 9,477 deaths, and Texas reported 2,251,388 cases and 41,407 deaths.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Thursday reported 27,938,085 cases so far in the U.S., with a national death toll of 497,415.
