Bowie County's active virus cases rise by 136 in four days; Miller up

Active coronavirus cases increased from Thursday to Monday in both Bowie County, Texas, and Miller County, Arkansas, according to state health departments.

Bowie County's estimated active cases rose by 136 in that time, moving from 553 to 689, as deaths because of COVID-19 among county residents rose from 120 to 124, the Texas Department of State Health Services reported. Cumulative confirmed cases increased from 2,946 to 3,118, and there have been 3,384 recoveries in the county.

Miller County added 33 active cases Thursday to Monday, reaching a total of 185, according to the Arkansas Department of Health. Total confirmed cases in the county rose from 1,959 to 2,026, deaths held at 17, and there have been 1,824 recoveries.

From Thursday to Monday in Northeast Texas, Red River County's case count went up from 293 to 315, Morris County's fro 341 to 375, Cass County's from 874 to 906 and Titus County's from 2,015 to 2,153, according to TDSHS.

In Southwest Arkansas, Lafayette County's cumulative confirmed case count increased from 257 to 264 Thursday to Monday, Pike County's from 548 to 564, Nevada County's from 509 to 527, Little River County's from 664 to 685, Howard County's from 805 to 822, Hempstead County's from 963 to 1,013 and Sevier County's from 1,551 to 1,565, according to ADH.

In Northwest Louisiana from Thursday to Monday, Caddo Parish's case count rose from 17,819 to 18,308 and Bossier Parish's from 8,979 to 9,163, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

Statewide, Arkansas reported 192,809 confirmed cases and 3,800 deaths, Louisiana reported 322,181 cases and 7,585 deaths, and Texas reported 1,598,713 cases and 27,969 deaths.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Thursday reported 20,558,489 total cases in the U.S. so far, with a national death toll of 350,664.
