Active coronavirus cases, deaths up in Bowie County

TEXARKANA, Texas - Bowie County recorded two additional deaths because of COVID-19 from Thursday to Monday, bringing the county's death toll to 187, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services.

Active coronavirus cases also increased in Bowie County, moving from 511 to 521 in that time. Cumulative confirmed cases rose from 4,585 to 4,608, and there have been an estimated 5,967 recoveries in the county.

Elsewhere in Northeast Texas, Red River County's case count increased from 396 to 398, Morris County's from 565 to 567, Cass County's from 1,130 to 1,131 and Titus County's from 2,667 to 2,670, according to TDSHS.

In Southwest Arkansas, Miller County's total cases went up from 2, 580 to 2,585 Thursday to Monday, while active cases fell from 25 to 22, according to the Arkansas Department of Health. COVID-19 fatalities in the county fell from 25 to 22, and there have been 2,544 recoveries.

Lafayette County's total case count rose from 371 to 373 in that time, Nevada County's from 638 to 639, Pike County's from 750 to 754, Little River County's from 865 to 870, Howard County's from 1,019 to 1,024, Hempstead County's from 1,434 to 1,435 and Sevier County's from 1,759 to 1,763, according to ADH. In Northwest Louisiana from Thursday to Monday, Caddo Parish's case count increased from 24,795 to 24,862 and Bossier Parish's from 13,061 to 13,084, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

Statewide, Arkansas reported 255,836 confirmed cases and 5,343 deaths on Monday, Louisiana reported 434,289 cases and 9,758 deaths, and Texas reported 2,322,728 cases and 44,483 deaths.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Monday reported 28,813,424 cases so far in the U.S., with a national death toll of 523,850.
