TEXARKANA, Texas - August again welcomes Harry Potter fans to the Texarkana Museums System, and it's time to be spellbound.

Burgandy Farris, manager of Discover Place Interactive Museum, said the follow-up event to this past weekend's mask making will be another livestream event with kits available, this time with a craft focus on making sensory bottles with a Harry Potter theme. It's Saturday, 2 p.m., on the Discover Place Interactive Museum's Facebook page.

"Kids will have to get bottles which they will fill with whatever Harry Potter-inspired little glitter, stickers and things that we'll give them," Farris said. "They can use that as something to shake and look at, or maybe if they're upset they can use it as a way to take a breath and breathe. Some parents may want to use them."

There's no particular connection to the famed Potter books and movies, but Farris sees it as a unique craft to do while maintaining social distancing. And the idea is that they'll work like the Riddikulus Charm used to beat Boggarts.

The kit package comes with a bottle and decorations, but it will be up to the children as to how they want to decorate them.

Participants should register in advance online at TexarkanaMuseums.org/Events. Pick up the kits before 2 p.m. on Saturday and then watch the live show at home. Kits are available to be picked up from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Museum of Regional History that day.

"If they don't see the livestream at 2 p.m., that's OK. It will still be up on our Facebook page and if they want to look at it later they can," Farris said.

Streaming craft shows have been a way for the TMS to reach out to the community during the pandemic, the livestream events gaining an audience. "We've gotten a good little crowd in the past month," Farris said.

Kits will be available for $10 per person, $5 for TMS members. People have until Friday at midnight to register. More Harry Potter events will be scheduled for the rest of this month with details available at the TMS events page.
