Coming off what has been dismissed as its worst season, "Survivor" will try to bounce back with a 40th season featuring 20 winners.

The reality series will offer a $2 million prize, up from the usual $1 million.

"Survivor: Winners at War" opens with two hours at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, on CBS. The 40th edition also marks the reality contest's 20th anniversary.

Rob Mariano and Sandra Diaz-Twine were mentors/advisers on "Survivor: Island of the Idols," the 39th edition that aired in the fall.

That edition was blasted for its approach to sexual harassment issues. In the reunion finale, Jeff Probst apologized to the female contestant who complained about a male competitor's conduct, and the show instituted new policies.

CBS will look back at the show's history in "Survivor at 40: Greatest Moments and Players" at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5.
