LINDEN, Texas - Halloween festivities may adopt a different appearance this pandemic year, but a Linden deejay and musician is hosting a community Halloween party, COVID-style.

Yogoman's Drive In Halloween Costume Party on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. provides music - both deejay tunes and performed live - along with candy, a costume party (with a $25 prize for the best), a photo station and a parking spot where people can listen to the tunes and enjoy their Halloween treats while staying socially distant.

The public is invited, and Yogoman himself, Jordan Rain, says they're piggybacking on the downtown Linden Halloween festivities. This is an additional event for the community at their 236 E. Rush St. home, a blue house near the U.S. Post Office.

"There's a trunk-or-treat event going on down on the square around the courthouse," Rain said, "and so we would be encouraging folks that were coming from there we can basically see the courthouse from our yard."

They're encouraging safe distancing, so people can drive by and pick up treats at their table near the road. They can stop and enjoy the music, too, and show off costumes. A parking lot across the street provides a place to listen to music and enjoy their trunk-or-treat candy.

"We'll be broadcasting some live music and also some deejayed spooky music from our porch," Rain said, adding, "We'll have a backdrop against the front of our porch that we'll take pictures of folks dressed in costume and post to our My Creole Belle Facebook page."

The costume contest is free to enter, as are the Halloween treats they'll provide for everyone's enjoyment.

What will Yogoman have going musically? He'll be improvising on the guitar and a fellow musician will bring an electronic drum. Halloween-themed spooky music will be on tap to broadcast.

"I'll pick some stuff that kind of goes with the theme, basically," Rain said. Speakers will broadcast this spooky selection. He envisions it all as something extra for folks to enjoy in Linden on Halloween night.
