TinkerTown canceled

TEXARKANA - The Texarkana Museums System's TinkerTown event has been canceled, another victim of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

TinkerTown was slated to run Saturday as an online event, going digital to safely help kids learn and explore as they have downtown in years past at Discovery Place Interactive Museum and sites nearby.

However, Texarkana Museums System Board President Velvet Cool said COVID has caused caused too much scrambling this year to go forward with the annual TinkerTown this time. TinkerTown has traditionally given local youth a chance to learn by participating in hands-on activities.

Back in June, Cool said of their plans, "Our goal is to work with other nonprofits, civic organizations, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, church groups, businesses, and pre-record their activities. Each activity presenter will provide us kits for our activity bags."
