The Miller County Red Dirt Master Gardeners will hold their annual plant sale May 1.

The sale will be from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Four States Fairground's Home Arts building.

"With the loosening of the COVID restrictions, we thought we could have a good sale. We have had two previous ones in that location and they have done really well," said Charlotte Fuller, fundraiser chairwoman.

This is the fourth year for the sale and they are usually sold out by noon, Fuller said.

Many of the plants are grown in the Arkansas High School greenhouse and others will come from the yards and gardens of local Master Gardeners.

The sale will feature a good selection of plants, including several varieties of tomatoes, peppers, herbs, succulents and annuals.

Prices are very reasonable and proceeds benefit Master Gardener programs.

The Master Gardeners would eventually like to start a scholarship for a Miller County student interested in studying horticulture.

Red Dirt Master Gardeners are part of the Miller County Extension Service, which is part of the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service's statewide network and the U of A System's Division of Agriculture.

(The Four States Fairgrounds is at 3700 E. 50th Street in Texarkana, Arkansas.)
