IN OUR VIEW | Enough, Finally: His own party calls for Cuomo to resign in wake of report

Democrats take sexual harassment charges very seriously.

At least when it's a Republican being accused. They tend to "believe the women" a bit less enthusiastically when allegations are leveled against one of their own.

Of course, the same can be said of the GOP. We need only look at the partisan response on both sides to sexual harassment slings against former President Donald Trump and U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh and claims made against President Joe Biden and former President Bill Clinton, for example.

But now it seems at least one Democrat's behavior is too much even for his own party cohorts.

A report released Tuesday by New York Attorney General Letitia James concluded that the state's governor, Andrew Cuomo, sexually harassed 11 women - most former employees - from 2013 to 2020, and on at least one occasion retaliated against a former staffer who complained.

After the report was released the calls started coming down for Cuomo to resign. Even President Biden joined the chorus.

Cuomo denies the allegations and is resisting pressure to step down - for now at least. We suspect it's all bluster, though. He knows his political career is toast.

Yes, our elected officials embrace the mantra "believe the women." But usually only when it's convenient - or inescapable.
