IN OUR VIEW | Let It Snow?: Forecast says maybe, but no need to rush the stores

Take a look out the window. Is the weather outside frightful?

Well, it may be a little later in the day. Cold, rain, ice. And then the tune may change to "let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!"

At least for some folks here in the Twin Cities.

The forecast is calling for a wintry mix today, turning to snow later in the evening. There may even be a little accumulation.

For some, the first snow of the season is something to celebrate. They love watching the flakes fall - especially while huddled inside a warm house, perhaps in front of a roaring fire.

Kids like it, too. They make snow angels and snowmen, have snowball fights - and hold on to the hope there is enough remaining on the ground to maybe get a day off from school Monday.

For others, snow is nothing more than a major pain. They don't know why anyone could enjoy the cold, the slippery sidewalks and drives, the iced-over windshields - much less celebrate the stuff.

Don't worry too much, though. Even if the snow comes - and there's not more than a 50% chance - the forecast calls for an inch of accumulation or less.

So no reason to rush the grocery stores for milk and bread - if there's any left, that is.
