LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Reply and Term limits

TO THE EDITOR:

One of your readers, Bruce Cook (Letters to the Editor, July 16, 2020), inspired me to write this letter. As a former Republican, I believe President Trump has told just under 20,000 lies a of today. He has downplayed the coronavirus while 138,000 deaths have occurred in the U.S. I heard Trump say on FOX News that the virus was a hoax.

Now Trump has mandated the CDC will not receive the number of cases or deaths. The Trump administration downplays a very serious problem.

So it appears to me that Trump is the one playing the "snipe" game on some really dumb Americans. He doesn't care about you, me, Mr. Cook nor anyone else. If everyone watched all three major TV stations they may have their eyes opened.

The insight to the real Donald J. Trump is in his niece's book, "Too Much and Never Enough." The book says it all.

Term limits

TO THE EDITOR:

I agree that the U.S. Congress should have term limits. I don't think it should be a lifelong vocation. Some members have been there for years and it seems the only real accomplishment has been wealth. Since most are lawyers, they need to experience the same things that other citizens do, like insurance and unemployment. We need to get away from "Big Ole Me" and "Lil Ole You" syndrome.

The job needs to be refreshed every four to eight years. This will let big business make some other citizens rich. The president is limited to two terms, so should Congress. There should be no lifetime tax-paid jobs.

This current pandemic is showing just how useless the president and Congress are to regular citizens.
