Letter to the Editor: Moving finish line and No more Trump

Moving finish line

TO THE EDITOR

I thought Tuesday, November 3, was the day/date of this year's presidential election. (In 1872, Congress set the Tuesday after the first Monday in November as Election Day - every fourth year for president.) There are some states counting ballots received up to two weeks after Election Day? For example: three days in Pennsylvania, six days in Wisconsin, nine days in NC, 14 days in Michigan. Universal, unsolicited ballots is bad enough, but when the deadline for receiving ballots is up to fourteen days after "Election Day" - November 17 - election integrity is destroyed, the opportunity for voter fraud is multiplied, and mass confusion is interjected in the whole process. Also, adding additional days after November 3 provides "dirty voters," and foreign governments the opportunity to manipulate the vote to their advantage. This must not happen. Don't move the finish line!

Some states have already begun voting by mail. All 50 states - If I am correct - have provided for early voting and absentee voting which gives the voter ample time to vote. No extra time is needed nor should be allowed after Election Day. This is an "assault on the integrity of our electoral process." When I was younger, I worked at the polls for many years. I know of the many safeguards that are used to assure a fair election in which only eligible U.S. citizens can vote. All of these measures are totally discarded when universal, unsolicited ballots are used. If we continue down this path, this will be the most erroneous and fraudulent election ever.

What is being done in many states is wrong, unfair, and probably unconstitutional. And it affects the entire United States. If this is allowed, it will be the end of free and fair elections in America.

My recommendation: vote in person if possible either by means of early voting or on Election Day.

No more Trump

TO THE EDITOR

As an independent, I fail to understand how a person could vote for an individual who had five military deferments to be U.S. president and commander in chief of our armed forces. That ultimate insult was made worse by Trumps recent personal insult of calling those that serve, are injured and die fighting for our freedoms "suckers and losers."

Trump knew Jan. 28 about the coronavirus, how deadly, was spread through the air and affected the young as well. Instead of informing the nation of all that was known, and initiating pandemic protocol, Trump deceived for 2-plus months.

As the CDC and Dr. Fauci tried to give us recommended safety measures to use, Trump would contradict them and failed to follow by example. It was nothing but confusion as death spread across our nation.

Trump's business history - he was given $1 million to start with. Fred bailed him out numerous times. Left him $4 million which he went through. He had six bankruptcies and owes half a billion at this time.

He has insulted our intel., generals, women, senators. Says our free press is "the enemy of the people." Has ruined U.S. standing around the world, but admires dictators. U.S. does not need four more years of Trump.
