The Dallas Morning News reported Monday that the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers and the Dallas Mavericks have joined an effort to legalize sports gambling in Texas.

Since the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the federal ban on sports betting in 2018, 25 states — including Arkansas — now allow it to some degree.

Proponents say billions of dollars are wagered illegally on sports every year. So why shouldn't the state get in on some of that revenue?

However, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick says forget about it, at least for now.

Speaking Tuesday on an Austin radio show, Patrick said he has never been in favor of legal sports betting and that the idea is "not going to see the light of day this session."

We want to know what you think. Should Texas legalize betting on football, basketball and other sports? Or do you think that's a bad idea?

Last Week: Saving Social Security?

Last week's question was about President Joe Biden's plan to increase the income level subject to Social Security tax. Should the income level subject to Social Security tax be increased? Or do you think that's a bad idea?

Make the change. Higher income is no reason to not contribute. Can afford it much better than those make less, especially those who get minimum wage. — R.S., Texarkana, Texas

How about stop borrowing from it? It's not their money in the first place. It belongs to the people who have paid it in over their entire life! Once again, government trying to "solve" a problem that they created!

Let the people use that money to invest it for themselves. The government continues to raid the fund for themselves. I can do more for my retirement with that $ than the government can provide.

He's only been in office for 47 years. If you think he has the answer your wrong. He's part of the problem. Can you say term limits?

Increase it to a billion. The plutocrats and oligarchs that run the country would not like that. Therefore it won't happen.

Didn't Biden also have a plan for slowing Covid, that's what his campaign promise was then he gets elected and says nothing can be done. This will be the same. He's been a liar his whole adult life as a politician do you think after almost half a century in office that now he has a plan.

There were marginal rate increases every few years since its inception in the 1930s. That went on till 1990. Since then we have been at our current rate. 30 years of no changes at this point. Just raise the rate by 0.10 percent and nobody would even notice the difference. The SSA running out of money would never happen. Even politicians know that would cause uproar.

That sounds a lot like what Trump said.

Remove the income cap and the funding problem goes away.

Stop sending our $$$ overseas and stop giving it to non citizens and those that have never worked a day in their lives. This is not including citizens born with disabilities as their SSI/SSDI is based on what parents paid in.

Let the government pay back what they stole from social security and it will be set.

I've been saying for years that the income cap needs to be increased substantially.

47 years in office, Biden and congress are the reason Social Ssecurity is in the shape it's in. And now he wants the American people to fix the problems he was part of causing. I want to know how Biden made his millions of dollars he has in the bank.

I wish they would revamp Social Security reform and make it to where those that stay medicated and have drawn benefits since childhood or are capable of work, return to work. It should only be for the elderly or those with medical necessity who cannot work. Needs a complete overhaul.

We're taxed enough. How about paying back the fund they have pillaged for years rather than giving our tax dollars to other countries or illegal immigrants?!

The way it is currently everyone pays SS taxes on what they earn up to $142,000, and income above that pays no SS tax. It currently hurts the lower income families more than upper income families.
