CHEERS & JEERS | Letters from Jan. 16, 2021

JEERS: To the Texarkana Gazette for its op-ed about Trump's social media ban. Free speech does not give a person the right to falsely shout "Fire!" in a crowded theater. Trump did this when he promoted baseless claims and conspiracy theories about a so called "stolen election" and later incited insurrection by fanning the flames of sedition. There are consequences for actions, but Trump never accepts responsibility or blame for his. He's proven to be a "clear and present danger" to our democracy and should be banned! - B.R., Ashdown, Arkansas

JEERS: Read Trump's speech that preceded lawbreakers entry into Congress. As usual corrupt, media backed politicians, deceptively blamed Trump. He used the word "fight," that is commonly used to inspired active, but peaceful confronting of wrongs. Also saying everyone will "be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard." Calling for active violence by anti-Trump anarchists across the country continues, often supported by Democrats. Now their media backers - Twitter, Facebook, etc. block Trump supporters. They are now saying, we can't be tolerated any longer, while allowing Iran, the world's main sponsor of terrorism a platform. - D.H.M., Texarkana, Arkansas
