JEERS: To JWW in April 5th cheers and jeers of the gazette. JWW makes a plea that minimum wage in Arkansas and Texas needed to be raised to a livable wage. Well why not just make it 100 dollars an hour or we could not have a minimum wage at all and go back to a meritocratic system where employees are paid by the efforts and their value to the companies they work for. The minimum wage should be enough for someone to want something more, an incentive to better themselves and propel themselves to be more successful. Higher minimum wages are inflationary, causes the companies to lay off employees that are marginally productive. Raising prices for the goods and services they offer to all of us. Cutting already slim profit margins will stop economic growth and cause everyone to pay for you to feel better about yourself. But ignorance is bliss. -- B.C., Texarkana, Texas
