Twins defeat the Generals to reach TCL championship

VICTORIA, Texas - The Texarkana Twins edged the Victoria Generals, 4-3, to win the semifinal series (2-1) and reach the championship game of the Texas Collegiate League.

The Twins faced the top-seeded Brazos Valley Bombers on Tuesday night in College Station for the TCL title.

Brock Booker allowed just one run over seven innings to earn the win. He allowed four hits and walked five.

Ram Maldonado was touched up for a run in each the eighth and ninth innings, cutting the Texarkana lead to 4-3. The Generals had two on and two out when a fly ball to Matt Kissamis sealed the win.

Hudson Hopkins, a graduate of Pleasant Grove, hammered a leadoff home run to left to start the third inning for the Twins. An error later in the inning gave Texarkana a 2-0 lead.

In the sixth inning, Harrison Engstrom singled home Christian Boulware.

In the bottom of the seventh, Victoria got on the scoreboard, but Hopkins doubled in another run in the top of the eighth for what ended up being the decisive run.
