Nashville comes out on top in tussle with Ashdown

ASHDOWN, Ark.- Nashville slipped by Ashdown, 27-20, on Friday night in a Conference 7-4A contest.

The Scappers came into the night leading the series 13-4.

The game was close all night but it was the Scappers who came out on top, rebounding from their first and only loss of the season last week.

In the final quarter, Ashdown was able to knot the game at 20, when Memphis Holland trotted in from six yards out.

Nashville responded by going 50 yards in nine plays, culminating to a QB sneak by Tristen Jamison to put the contest back into the hands of the Scrappers, 27-20.

Jamison finished with seven carries for 20 yards and completed six of 15 passes and a touchdown.

The Panthers broke the ice in the opening frame on a 1-yard run by Kameron Benton.

Nashville was able to answer with two trips to the end zone in the first quarter.

The first Scrapper score was a 5-yard run by Keshawn Steward; a failed kick left a margin of one.

The second was a 38-yard pass that fell into the hands of Jordan White from Jamison, to give the Scrappers a 6-point edge.

Ashdown retaliated in the second quarter with an explosive 89-yard run up the middle of the field by Ben Birtcher to give the game a crucial knot at 20 going into halftime.

Birtcher ended the night with eight carries and 88 yards.

Keamon Nutt led the Panthers rushing with eight carries for 90 yards.

In the third quarter , Stewart tipped the scales in favor of Nashville with a 4-yard plunge into the end zone.

Carmillias Morrison led the Scrappers on the ground with 14 carries and 107 yards.

Stewart complemented with 10 carries for 95 yards and two touchdowns.

The Panthers had the ball on the Nashville nine yard line with two minutes left to play.

A fumbled snap pushed them back to the fifteen. A run for no gain followed by two incomplete passes resulted in a turnover on downs.

Stewart ran the ball till enough time had lapsed, so that Jamison could take a knee to end the game.

The Panthers slide to 3-4 (1-3) while Nashville improves to 6-1 (3-1).
