GARLAND, Texas — Texas High went 1-2 in pool play at the Garland volleyball tournament on Friday.

Olivia Lower put down 22 kills, but the Lady Tigers fell to Gilmer, 22-25, 25-19, 26-24.

Bella Cherry served in 13 points and had 14 assists, and Valeria Perez had 13 digs and 13 service points for Texas High.

Lower slapped in 14 service points and had 15 kills to propel the Tigers to an 18-25, 25-18, 15-12 victory over MacArthur.

Logan Pilgreen paced the team with 16 service points, had five kills, and made 12 assists for Texas High.

The Tigers fell to Sachse, 25-8, 25-14.


Lady Brahmas win in 4

OMAHA-NAPLES, Texas — Paul Pewitt defeated James Bowie, 25-15, 25-17, 17-25, 25-23.

Destiny Jones swatted 11 kills and Calli Osmon added 10 for the Lady Brahmas. Jones also had 14 digs, and Osmon added 12 digs and eight service points, including four aces. Kailyn Jones contributed 18 assists, seven points and eight digs, Jacie Crocker had 10 assists, 13 points and five aces, and McKayla Jackson had eight points, including four aces.

Mya Heath led the backrow with 13 digs, and Brooke Traylor had seven kills and two blocks.

Katie Vaughn served 12 points, and Khloe Walker 10 for the Lady Pirates. Jaycee Littleton had seven kills, and Chloe Caddenhead 11 digs.

Paul Pewitt took a 25-20, 25-21 win in the jayvee match with Hally Taylor serving nine winners. Grace Nichols added seven points, and Emily Maroul led James Bowie with 11 points and two kills.


Lady Mustangs sweep Maud

MAUD, Texas — Emma McKinney served 19 points to help Hughes Springs earn a 25-23, 25-17, 26-24 sweep on the road.

Haley Yates paced the Lady Cardinals with 11 points. Brynn Sultz added 10 kills, Jadyn Sanders and Haley Yates each had five assists, and Lanie Lee and Alyssa Hawley-Twite each swatted six kills.

The Mustangs won the junior varsity matches, also, with a 25-7, 25-16 decision in the JV 'A' contest.

Grace Pippin served 11 for Hughes Springs, and Libby Carrell had three for Maud.

HS won the jayvee 'B' match, 25-4, 25-11, behind Madison Heller's 22 points. Alyssa Ray had three for the Cardinals.


Lady Rabbs topple Jefferson

ATLANTA, Texas — Atlanta won all three matches in straight sets against visiting Jefferson.

The Lady Rabb varsity posted a 25-16, 25-23, 26-24 win. The junior varsity won, 25+17, 25-10, and the freshmen claimed a 25-10, 25-11 sweep.
