#TXKPreps Week 2 Recap | Arkansas High

LAST WEEK: The Razorbacks fell to cross-town rival Texas High, 28-7.

THIS WEEK: Arkansas High (1-1) is open this week and next week before starting 5A-South conference play.

OFFENSIVE STANDOUTS: RB Torie Blair rushed for 57 yards and a touchdown for the Razorbacks, who never got untracked on offense.

DEFENSIVE STANDOUTS: DB Naijah Taylor had six solo stops and nine total tackles to lead the AHS defense. Larry Jefferson, Eric Flowers and Charles Stewart each had eight tackles apiece, Jefferson and Stewart combining on a sack, and Jaquavion Smith and Michael Johnson each had six tackles.

COACH BARRY NORTON'S COMMENTS: "Texas High kept the momentum the whole time. They dictated the pace of play. They did everything you're supposed to do, and we were unable to get anything going. Offensively, we couldn't get our defense off the field, and eventually that wore us down.

"There's a lot of things we've got to get better at. We're looking to develop some depth and working some new kids in there over these next two weeks (preparing for conference play). We'll still work on fundamentals and continue to get better as a football team."
