AHS slams El Dorado

EL DORADO, Ark. - Arkansas High swept El Dorado in their varsity conference volleyball match, 25-13, 25-10, 25-11.

Shelby Robinson led the Lady Backs with 12 points and teammate Fortunate Barry added 10 points.

Alyssa Young finished with eight points for AHS.

AHS won the freshman match with El Dorado in two sets.

Piper Smith led the Lady Backs with 16 points and teammate Seaira Watson contributed nine points.

The Lady Wildcats defeated the Lady Backs in three sets in their eighth grade match, 25-17, 17-25, 15-4.

McKenzie Smith led North Heights with 13 points.

NHJH beat El Dorado in the seventh grade match, 25-7, 25-9.

Kendra Jones led Lady Backs with 16 points and seven aces, while Chelsea Johnson finished with nine points.

 

Football

Hornets edge Bulldogs

HOOKS, Texas - Hooks nipped Queen City, 7-6, in the junior varsity game Thursday.

Logan Davis had the Hornets' lone score, bulling in from the 2. Lane McMillan's extra-point kick ended up the difference in the game.

DeQuavion Giles had a 5-yard rushing TD for the Bulldogs, but the 2-point attempt was no good.

Demarion Hannah helped the Hornets preserve the win with an interception in the end zone.

Keyshawn Walls scored four rushing TDs as Hooks' eighth grade team rolled up a 36-6 win over Queen City.

Walls had scoring runs of 70, 10, 6 and 14 yards and also ran for a 2-point conversion. Jatavious Johnson raced 50 yards for a Hornet touchdown, and Daniel Godfrey twice had 2-point conversions -one rushing and one receiving.

Queen City won the seventh grade game, 16-14.

Dontravious Coulter had a 10-yard TD run and 2-point conversion for the Hornets, and Gibson Taylor added a 5-yard scoring run. Zachary Larose forced and recovered a fumble for the Hooks defense.

 

Pirates rally past Rebels

SIMMS, Texas - Dylan Braley had four 2-point runs as James Bowie defeated Rivercrest, 32-22, in a junior high football game.

Lane Johnson had a 1-yard TD run, Nick Hadley sprinted for a 20-yard score, Logan McCullough found the end zone from a yard out, and Ethan Evans had a 22-yard touchdown run for the Pirates.

 

Redwater slips to Pewitt

REDWATER, Texas - Paul Pewitt defeated Redwater in their junior varsity game, 18-14.

David McKeever scored for the Dragons on a 28-yard run.

Anthony Martinez scored for Redwater on a 2-yard run and also scored on the 2-point conversions.

Devin Smith scampered 35 yards for a touchdown and added the 2-point run as the Dragons' eighth grade shut out Paul Pewitt, 22-0.

Brayden Doyle had the first score with a 33-yard jolt to paydirt. Doyle plunged into the end zone for the 2-point conversion.

Cadance Pipes scored on a 15-yard run, and Connor Holland tacked on the 2-point run.

Marquez Jones scored a pair of rushing touchdowns from 3 and 24 yards out for the Dragons' seventh grade as they rolled past the Brahmas, 28-6. Jones also returned a punt 58 yards for a score and had two, 2-point runs.

Landyn Daffern recovered a fumble for Redwater and had a 7-yard TD run.

The Dragons host Bishop Gorman at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

 

Leopards claw Tigers

TEXARKANA, Texas - Jayden Hampton connected with Michael Walker for a score and also ran 25-yards for another touchdown, leading Liberty-Eylau over Texas High in their freshmen game at Harris Field, 16-6.

Marquarius Price score two 2-point conversions for the Leopards.

Omarion Patterson, James Hayes, Tracy Revels and Nate Gamble were recognized by the Leopards coaching staff for their performance during the game.

 

Lions beat Daingerfield

NEW BOSTON, Texas - New Boston beat Daingerfield in their eighth grade game, 20-12.

Jonah Sanchez caught a 5-yard pass from Connor Bobbitt for a Lions score. Sanchez also added 35-yard touchdown run and also a 2-point conversion.

Xavier Rowden added a 5-yard run for New Boston.

Bobbitt ended the game with a interception for New Boston.

The Lions blanked Daingerfield in their seventh grade game, 30-0.

Devon Walker had two touchdowns for New Boston on runs of 20 and 22 runs.

Tiner Melton scored two touchdowns for the Lions on runs of 56 and 15 yards. Melton also scored a 2-point conversion.

Jamarion Jackson added a 2-point conversion for New Boston and teammate Justin Allen added a extra point.

 

Hornets down Panthers

FOUKE, Ark. - Mineral Springs defeated Fouke in their junior high game, 28-16.

Aiden Roberts scored on a 56-yard run for the Panthers and also punched in the 2-point conversion.

Aiden Searcy scored on a 1-yard run for Fouke and also scored on a 2-point conversion.

Riley Haygood and Richard Walker each recovered fumbles for the Panthers.

 

Tennis

Hawks fall to Bulldogs

LONGVIEW, Texas - Pleasant Grove fell to Kilgore, 15-5, in a varsity team tennis match.

The Hawks' junior varsity fell, 16-4.

"I am proud of today's effort, and we continue to progress every week," Pleasant Grove head coach Erik Pickett said.

The varsity won a girls doubles match, two boys singles matches, and a pair of girls singles matches.
