The Audible | Foreman looking to finish in 2020

FOREMAN, Ark. - The Foreman Gators have refocused after finishing last season 11-1 overall and conference champions under second-year head coach Adrian Ivory.

Ivory and his staff expect for this year's squad to finish the task at hand.

"We have a really good group of guys coming back this year," Ivory said. "We lost a great group of seniors, but this year's team is ready to step up and meet the challenge. We're excited about this upcoming season."

OFFENSE

Sophomore Hunter Fowler will move into the starting varsity quarterback role this season.

"He came up at the end of the season and got some varsity experience with us," Ivory said. "He's a big, rangy kid, so we're excited to see what he'll be able to bring to our offense."

Seniors Keontae Oglesby, Shemar Kemp and Javon Allen return to the Gators backfield in 2020.

"Keontae rushed for 1,300 yards for us last year and was named All-State," Ivory said. "Allen averaged 9.0 yards per carry last season and that was with limited touches. We're excited to have those two backs returning and what they bring to our offense.

"Kemp is the fastest guy we have. He's a play maker with the ball in his hands."

Seniors Kaleb Kelgley, Chris Haywood, Heath Fowler, Daylon Hayley and Nick Moss will bring their varsity experience to the Gators offensive line in 2020.

Kegley is entering his fourth year as a starter for Foreman.

"We're going to lean on our offensive line a lot to get us where we need to go," Ivory said. "We also have some experience with those guys. We're very big upfront but we don't have much depth. We're about seven deep on the offensive line.

"We want to keep those guys fresh, so we can rotate them. We want to stay away from the injury bug that bit us last year. We plan to run the ball effectively with those guys upfront."

Senior Brady Jackson, senior Quincey Robinson, junior Peyton Seagraves and sophomore Curtis Young will provide deep threats for the Gators in the passing game at receiver.

Junior Will Smith will lineup at tight end for Foreman this upcoming season.

"Quincey is probably our best route runner and he has some great hands," Ivory said. "We're going to try to throw the ball a little more this year. Teams are starting to load the box on us a little more.

"All of our receivers are capable of making plays, as long as we can get the ball to them."

DEFENSE

In 2019, the Gators held opponents to six shutouts and also only gave up 10.5 points per game.

Haywood, Hayley and Kegley will return on the defensive front for Foreman.

"We just have to attack everyday at a time," Ivory said. "We're not going to look past any opponent. Our first game is against Idabel and we fell Idabel is in the way of where we're trying to get.

"That's the mindset we want our kids to have, that anyone can beat you on any given Friday. As long as we control everything in our power to control, it should be a great season for us."

Seniors DeJames Powell, Ogelsby, Kaleb Smith, Corbin Coffey and Jay Durand will rotate at linebacker for the Gators.

Robinson, Jackson, Young and junior Hunter Poole will fill the back-end slots of Foreman's secondary.
