Liberty-Eylau names Dewaski Davis interim athletic director, head football coach

TEXARKANA, Texas Dewaski Davis was named the interim athletic director and head football coach at Liberty-Eylau High School Tuesday, announced via a press release from L-EISD.

Davis, who was an assistant football coach and head basketball coach for the Leopards last school year, replaces Klint King, who departed after 14 months as Liberty-Eylau's AD and head coach.

Davis is beginning his 32nd year as a coach in Texas. He has been an athletic director and head football coach for 15 seasons during his career.

Prior to joining the Leopard staff for the 2019 season, Davis led the Clarksville Blue Tiger program for 12 years. During his tenure at Clarksville, the football team claimed four district championships on the gridiron and had the best record in school history in 2011 with a 10-2 mark.

The Blue Tigers advanced past the first round of the playoffs five times, including three state quarterfinal appearances, under Davis' leadership.

Davis was a coach at Queen City for 16 years, spending the last three as athletic director and head coach for the Bulldogs. He coached a year at Pittsburg and a year at Ore City before his long tenure at Queen City.

Liberty-Eylau ISD has a school board meeting Thursday, when the interim tag is expected to be removed from Davis' titles.
