ASHDOWN, Ark. - Two standout basketball players from Ashdown have signed letters of intent to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level.
Lamar Wilkerson, a 7 AAA All-Conference and Class 3A All-State selection, has signed to play basketball at Three Rivers Junior College in Popular Bluff, Missouri.
"Lamar was a great all-around player for us during his senior season," Ashdown head basketball James Smith said. "As a junior, we won the state tournament and he was named the MVP. He had to take on a bit of a different role this season, but he was able to make a smooth transition."
Notoris Nelson, a 7 AAA All-Conference selection and received votes for the Class 3A All-State team, has signed to play basketball at National Park College in Hot Springs, Ark.
"Nelson improved every year he was in our program," Smith said. "He had a really good year of dominating the inside paint for us this season. Because of the competition we play, many times he was undersized. He grinded all season. He played hard and played well."
