LINDEN, Texas — Lauren Carrell scored 12 points and Alex Larry 11 to lift Queen City to a 52-29 win over Linden-Kildare in varsity basketball action Friday.

Jamecia Cook added 6 points for the 3-1 winners.

Lady Lions drop opener

NEW BOSTON, Texas — Mount Pleasant came on strong in the final quarter, outscoring New Boston 15-5 to rally and beat the Lady Lions' in their season opener, 38-26.

Tamiya Stewart was the lone double-figure scorer for New Boston, which trailed 14-8 at halftime. Paris Beard and Jordan Hargrave scored 9 points each for the Tigers.

Cross sparks McLeod

McLEOD, Texas — Kaitlyn Cross scored a game-high 17 points, including four 3-pointers, to help spark McLeod to a 48-36 win over Atlanta.

Gracie Lance scored 10 points and 7 rebounds for the Lady Longhorns (3-2), who outscored the Lady Rabbs 23-15 in the second half. Sibbie Comer added 8 points and 10 rebounds. Destinee Wells led Atlanta with 11 points and Tianne Lawson added 10.

The Rabbs won the JV game, 37-31. Chassie Gryder topped the Longhorns with 16.

Hawks down DeKalb

DEKALB, Texas — Pleasant Grove defeated DeKalb, 39-32.

Timia Cooks led the Lady Hawks with 9 points.

Pleasant Grove also won the junior varsity game, 34-19, behind Fayetteville Addison's 16 points.

Bulldogs win close one

CLARKSVILLE, Texas — Hannah Fitts popped in 16 points to lead Queen City to a 50-46 win over Clarksville.

Alex Larry added 9 points for the Lady Bulldogs.

Trinity Oden scored 16 and Erica Lavoie 14 to lift QC to a win in the JV game, 48-14.
