THS girls, boys place 3rd, 4th in meet

LONGVIEW, Texas - Texas High's girls placed third and the Tiger boys finished fourth in the Mosquito Joe Invitational cross country meet Friday at Lear Park.

The event, hosted by Longview schools Pine Tree and Spring Hill, featured eight teams in a Class 6A/5A division and nine teams in a Class 4A/3A/2A/1A division.

Texas High totaled 75 points in the girls 6A/5A division. Like golf, the lower the score the better finish.

Lady Tigers competitors were Fezeka Barnes (fifth, 21:37.5); Valeria Perez (seventh, 21:53.6); Daniela Urieta (20th, 23:55.5); Nealy Anderson (21st, 24:01.3) and Whitney Ankton (22nd, 24:15.8).

Texas High's boys had 103 points to place fourth. Evan Likins led the Tigers with a 14th place finish in 18:20.1, followed by Gabriel Raley 18th, 18:38.6; Jeb White 19th, 18:39.1; Eli Likins 25th, 19:10.6; and Chapman White 27th, 19:48.7).

The Tigers' junior varsity placed third with 58 points. Their competitors and finishes were: Juan Carlos Coco 1st, 18:53.6; Armando Hernandez 7th, 20:17.8; Jaiyden Beard 15th, 22:26.0; Gavin Mitchell, 17th, 23:20.9; Ian Hodgson 18th, 23:36.9; Caeden Carter 19th, 25:49.5; and Colten Crudely, 20th, 26:02.0.

Two girls from the THS junior varsity finished in the top 10, with Sindy Moya placing seventh (15:56.2) and Emily Kraft ninth (16:03.2). Brittany Buendia also placed 20th (16:35.9) and Allyson Arnold 30th (18:34.3).
