PG girls beat Bullard

BULLARD, Texas - Katie Ferguson served 16 points, made eight kills and 15 assists to lift Pleasant Grove to a 3-1 victory over Bullard in varsity volleyball action Friday.

The Lady Hawks won, 25-19, 17-25, 25-13, 25-21.

Macy Young also sparked PG with 16 pointss and 16 assists, Hallie Lipham 10 kills and Ella Nichols 16 digs.

 

James Bowie sweeps 3

SIMMS, Texas - James Bowie swept Detroit in three sets, winning 25-19, 25-19, 25-21.

Gracie Brown served 11 points and had six kills for the Lady Pirates, and Emily Latham 10 assists. Khloe Walker had 17 points for Detroit.

 

Cross country

Tigers place 4th, 5th

LONGVIEW, Texas - Two Texas High girls finished in the top 5 in the cross country meet hosted Friday by Pine Tree High School.

Valerica Perez placed fourth wit a time 22:08.3 aand Fezaka Barnes was fifth in 22:44.2.

In boys, Tiger Evan Likins was 14th with a time of 18:24.1, Juan Carlos Coco was 27th in 19:02.2.

 

Subvarsity

Redwater, Lions split pair

REDWATER, Texas - Redwater and New Boston split of pair of middle school football games Thursday.

In the eighth-grade game, the Dragons won 38-18. The Lions' touchdowns came on Adrian Myrks' 28-yard run and Tyner Melton's 2-yard run.

New Boston won the seventh-grade game, 22-0. Michael Demps scored all three touchdown for Lions. He recovered a fumble and returned in 30 yards to paydirt and also scored on runs of 25 and 3 yards. He also had a 2-point conversion run, as did teammate Cason May.
