AHS tops El Dorado, 6-3, in 6A/5A baseball

TEXARKANA, Ark. - Arkansas High scored five runs in the sixth inning to break open a close game and the Razorbacks held on for a 6-3 victory over El Dorado in a Conference 6A/5A baseball game Friday.

Braylon Bishop picked up the pitching win, not giving up a hit in four innings. He struck out eight and walked five. Scott Trumble went the last three innings, allowing three runs on five hits.

Bishop aided his cause with two hits in four at-bats, and he scored twice.

Ty Wald also had a hit and an RBI for the Razorbacks, as did Darby Sawyer and Jackson Harris. Arkansas High finished with seven hits.

Arkansas High will face Hot Springs Lakeside in another conference game Tuesday.

Linden-Kildare 11, Maud 0

MAUD, Texas - Linden-Kildare ripped 14 hits and the Tigers posted an 11-0, 5-inning triumph over the Maud Cardinals.

Linden-Kildare (11-5, 6-2) scored six runs in the fourth to open an 8-0 lead. Three more in the fifth put the game into the 10-run mercy rule.

Mason Johnson (6-1) got the win and Nate Brower took the loss. Maud managed only two hits off Johnson.

Jackson Lee sparked the Tiger offense with a pair of 2-run home runs. He finished with 6 RBI for the game.

Johnson also drove in three runs with a double and single for L-K. Colton Anderson and Jonathan Owen added three singles each, Clayton Mulkey and Colt Neville a double and single apiece, and Hunter Crenshaw a single and an RBI. Neville also had an RBI.

Brower and Haylon Dear had singles for Maud.

James Bowie 27, Avery 0

AVERY, Texas - James Bowie blasted Avery, 27-0, as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Slade Burnett struck out a Bulldog to end the lopsided win.

Whitt Rogers drove in five run for the Pirates, going 3 for 5 at the plate. Rogers drove in runs on a double in the second, a single in the third, and a single in the fourth.

James Bowie scored in the first inning when Gunner Robinson singled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs.

The Pirates erupted for nine runs in the fourth. Rogers, Robinson, Burnett, Clay Allen, Eli Evans and Garrett Brown all moved runners across the plate with RBI in the inning.

Rogers, a right-hander, notched the pitching win, by allowing one hit and no runs in three innings. He struck out three. Burnett threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

The Pirates totaled 16 hits in the 5-inning game. Brown, Robinson, Rogers, Logan McCullough and Hunter Reeves each racked up multiple hits. Brown led JB with four hits.

McLeod standout honored

McLEOD, Texas - McLeod standout Keldyn Schubert has been selected to participate in the 1A-4A Texas Association of Basketball Coaches All-Star game.

Schubert, who helped the Longhorns reach the regional tournament this season, was one of 24 players selected across the state.

The All-Star Game will be played May 14 in San Antonio in conjunction with the TABC Clinic.
