TEXARKANA, Texas — Liberty-Eylau defeated Pittsburg, 9-4, in District 15-4A baseball action Thursday night on the Leopards' home field.

Nate Moore came on in the second inning and pitched 5 1/3 innings to pick up the win. He gave up seven hits, two runs and struck out two. He relieved Parker Goodman in the second.

The Leopards were outhit by the Pirates, but they made them count. Hunter Burks was 2 for 4 with three runs scored and Colby Brook was 2 for 2 with two RBI. Gage Bellatti and Zach Brush had a hit and an RBI each, with Bellatti belting a double. Ron Garza added a hit and an RBI for L-E, which built an 8-2 lead after four innings.


PG qualifies 15

TEXARKANA, Texas — Pleasant Grove qualified 15 of 16 players by winning the District 15-4A tennis championship Thursday on the Hawks' courts.

Those 15 players have qualified for the regional meet, which is scheduled for April 26-27 at Longview High School.

"This was a monumental performance for the tennis Hawks and I believe it is the most we have ever qualified to regionals in PG history," said PG coach Erik Pickett.

MIXED DOUBLES: 1. Rose Anderson/Grant Mitchell; 2. Ramsey Noble/Spencer Potts.

GIRLS DOUBLES: 1. Anna Guan/Lilly Pace; 2. Elaina Shellogg/Autumn Crouch.

BOYS DOUBLES: 1. Jack Humphrey/Stone Robertson; 2. Chance Tutolo/William Saldino.

BOYS SINGLES: 1. Ryan Franklin; 2. Rhett Gatlin.

GIRLS SINGLES: 2. Courtney Kirk; 3. Lauren Carroll.
