Lady Warriors crowned state golf champions

SHAWNEE, Okla. - The Trinity Christian Lady Warriors golf program won the girls high school state championship in the Heartland Christian Athletic Association over the weekend.

The tournament featured six high school teams within the region.

Landi Williamson won the tournament shooting 83-under par and teammate Hannah Leeper placed second shooting 86-under par during the weekend.

"Well, hopefully this will possibly bring more participation to the program," Trinity Christian athletic director Larry Berry said. " We have a lot of talented young ladies.

"This championship will be used as a building block for our golf program."

Samantha Foster shot a 94-under par for the Warriors and teammate Hannah McGuire shot 102-over par.

"Our core values are based behind having a great Christian education system, but we always love to see our students excel in their preferred extracurricular activities," Berry said. "Our parents do a tremendous job of supporting this program and all of programs at Trinity.

"The parents of Trinity Christian make a great sacrifice for our student-athletes and they are the driving force behind our athletic success."

Trinity Christian is also set to host the HCAA state baseball tournament next week.
