Lady Rabbs blast Winnsboro, 17-5, in series opener

ATLANTA, Texas - Atlanta's seven run fourth inning was too much for Winnsboro to withstand in the opening game of their bi-district softball series.

The Lady Rabbs beat the Lady Raiders in the opening game of their bi-district series Thursday at Lady Rabbs Field, 17-5.

Tori Clayton hit a walk-off 3-run homerun for Atlanta securing the victory.

Callie Dyer put Atlanta on the board in the bottom of the first inning, slapping a 2 RBI single down the first baseline, driving in Cara Taylor and Tori Clayton.

The Raiders broke their scoring drought in the top of the third inning, after Faith Sechrist scored on a Atlanta throwing error, cutting the Lady Rabbs lead to a run, 2-1.

Jayden Cox tied the game for the Raiders on the following at-bat, driving in Emma Stansbury from second base.

Sydni Brooke Davis hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the third inning over the centerfielder's head, regaining the lead for the Rabbs with one out, 3-2.

Devon Grimes drove in Greenlee Mayberry for the Raiders in the top of the third inning, tying the Rabbs, 3-3.

Stanbury drove in Sechrist for Winnsboro's first lead of the series, 4-3, and Grimes crossed homeplate on a Rabbs errant throw to first base, adding to the Raiders cushion, 5-3.

Kinlee Hamilton scored on a bases loaded walk for Atlanta, cutting the Rabbs deficit to a run, 5-4.

Davis regained the lead for the Rabbs on her 2 RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the fourth inning, 6-5.

Hodge singled over the left fielder's head, driving in Clayton for the Rabbs during the following at-bat, 7-5.

Valerie Mason added a 2 RBI, giving Atlanta a 10-5 lead over Winnsboro with two outs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Mason drove in Davis in the bottom of the sixth inning for the Rabbs, extending their lead over Winnsboro, 11-5.

Dyer drove in Mason for Atlanta during the following at-bat, giving the Rabbs a seven run advantage, 12-5.

Hamilton and Clayton added a RBI each in the bottom of the sixth inning for the Rabbs, expanding their edge over Winnsboro, 14-5.

The second game of the series will be today, at Winnsboro.
