Weather, roads force postponements

With the exception of one area playoff basketball team, the winter weather and road conditions forced postponements of games from Friday and Saturday until Monday and Tuesday of next week.

Maud's boys will clash with North Hopkins at 6 p.m. today in a Class 2A bi-district game at Prairiland High School, while the rest of the local and Northeast Texas playoff teams moved their games, thanks in part to new deadlines for each postseason round laid out by the UIL Friday.

In the girls area round, Liberty-Eylau plays Brownsboro at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Spring Hill High School in Longview for a Class 4A second-round game. DeKalb and Sabine play their Class 3A area girls matchup Monday at Prairliand, and McLeod's girls will play a Class 2A area game at 5:30 p.m. as the first half of a playoff doubleheader on Monday at Paris High.

McLeod's boys are the second half of the twinbill at Wildcat Gym, facing Quinlan Boles at 7 p.m. in a 2A bi-district game.

Pleasant Grove's boys tussle with Kilgore in a 4A bi-district game at Marshall High School. Liberty-Eylau plays in the same court at 6 p.m. Tuesday in a boys 4A bi-district game against Tyler Chapel Hill.

Atlanta's boys moved their Class 3A bi-district game with Winnsboro until 6 p.m. Monday at Hughes Springs High School.

New Boston takes on Mount Vernon at 6 p.m. Monday at Pittsburg High School for a 3A bi-district game, and Hooks clashes with Mineola at 7 on Monday at Spring Hill High School.

DeKalb plays its 3A bi-district game against Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Prairiland High School.

In the other Class 2A boys bi-district game, Linden-Kildare squares off against Como-Pickton, tentatively on Monday. The site had yet to be determined.
