Redwater's Collier wins 3rd at state

ABILENE, Texas - Redwater's John Collier finished third in the Texas High School Powerlifting Association Division II state meet Saturday at the Taylor County Expo Center.

Collier was third in the 242 weight class with a total of 1,655. He squated 730, benched 375 and dead lifted 550.

Teammates Carlos Rojas and Tarik Hussein finished fifth and 11th in the 220 and 242 weight divisions, respectively. Rojas had a 600 squat, 345 bench and 540 dead lift for a 1,485 total in the 220s. Hussein squated 550, benched 370 and dead lifted 510 for a 1,430 total.

Atlanta's Tyrell King was fifth in the 308 division with a 650 squat, 410 bench and 6-5 dead lift for 1,665 total.

DeKalb's Amar Love was fifth in the 198s with a 1,480 total - 600 squat, 310 bench press, 570 dead lift.

In the Division III state meet, Maud and Linden-Kildare each had two qualifiers.

Maud's Kadin Daniels placed fourth in the 123 weight class with a 905 total. He had a 320 squat, 195 bench and 390 dead lift. Teammate Dawson Daffern was sixth in the 198 division with his 1,165 total. Daffern had a 400 squat, 280 bench and 485 dead lift.

L-K's Landon Liles finished sixth in the 275 weight class. Liles had a 1,465 total with his 575 squat, 350 bench and 540 dead lift. Michael Lane was 11th in the 132s with a 285 squat, 150 bench, 335 dead lift for a 770 total.
