Hawks topple Spring Hill, win baseball series

MARSHALL, Texas - Pleasant Grove won Game 2, 11-6, and Game 3, 6-2, over Spring Hill in a Class 4A-II regional quarterfinal, best-of-three playoff baseball series at Maverick Field on Saturday.

The Hawks came back to win the series after dropping Game 1, 8-0, on Thursday.

"I am proud of our team and our assistant coaches," Pleasant Grove head coach Riley Fincher said. "Our assistant coaches work really hard and don't get credit for it. I am so proud of our players and the way they fought. I can't say enough about our fans, parents, faculty, community and students. I am proud of everyone.

"We wanted to come out and fight in Game 3. After being tired and coming back, I can't say enough about our clutch hitting and our pitchers. We put pitchers in big situations coming into the game. We got key strikeouts and key outs. There were guys who did great, struggled and then were great again today. It is a complete team. Our guys are all in for each other, and it's awesome."
