TEXARKANA, Texas — Texas A&M University-Texarkana swept Jarvis Christian College, 13-2 and 14-7, in a college baseball doubleheader at George Dobson Field at Spring Lake Park on Friday.

"In the first game, we played good baseball," Eagles head coach Steve Jones said. "We didn't make any errors."

Jared Davis earned the win for the Eagles in the first game. Davis tossed six innings, gave up a run on three hits, walked one and struck out five. Wyatt Stavinoha went 5 for 5 with three runs scored for TAMU-T, while Ryan Peterson and Hunter Reid each had three RBI.

Starting Eagle pitcher Carter Coats earned the win in the second game, tossed 6 2/3 innings, allowed five runs (four earned) on nine hits, struck out 12 and hit a batter. Hunter Reid had a pair of doubles and drove in three runs, while teammate Austin Majorsky went 2 for 4 with 3 RBI.

"Jared was dialed in today, and he pitched really well," Jones said. "Carter is outstanding. Carter's biggest problem is that he throws too many strikes. He does get hit once in a while, but he had the 12 strikeouts. We have started to raise his pitch count because he is a long-inning, bullpen kind of guy. Carter got a little tired at the end, but he came out and gave us a great chance to win.

"We have to figure out how to shut batters down out of the bullpen. We're giving up a lot of runs out of the bullpen. We have to get it figured out and these guys have to come out and protect the innings."
