TEXARKANA, Texas — Waco La Vega played spoiler to Liberty-Eylau and their homecoming festivities.
The Leopards (0-6) fell to the Pirates (5-1) Friday at Harris Field, 49-6.
The game was called with 1:26 left in the third quarter after an on-field brawl between both teams.
Damian Henderson scored the lone touchdown for the Leopards in the third quarter on a 3-yard dive into the end zone. He finished the night with 20 yards on eight carries.
Shannon Roy notched 158 rushing yards for Liberty-Eylau on 12 totes.
Jai'Shawn Reese caught a 27-yard strike in the front corner of the end zone from Landry Kinne, giving the Pirates a seven-score lead, 49-0.
Jar'Quae Walton scored his fourth touchdown of the game on a 15-yard dash to the pylon for the Pirates.
Walton ended his night with 73 yards on seven carries and four touchdowns.
Sol'Dreveon Degrate caught a 27-yard bomb from Kinne in the back of the end zone to give the Pirates a 35-0 cushion.
Walton scored his third touchdown of the first half on a 5-yard plunge with 9:29 left on the clock.
Walton scored his second touchdown of the quarter on a 32-yard dash through the middle for the Pirates, adding to La Vega's advantage, 21-0.
On the following drive, Landry Kinne ran 17 yards for the Pirates' second touchdown of the quarter.
La Vega jumped on the board first after Walton rumbled in the end zone from 13 yards out, to give the Pirates the early edge in the first quarter.
Victoria Walker was named the 2019 Homecoming Queen of Liberty-Eylau High School.
The Leopards will have a bye next week and will be back in action Oct. 18, traveling to Longview to face Spring Hill in their District 6-4A, Division II opener.
