TEXARKANA, Texas — Liberty-Eylau begins their postseason run tonight at H. E. Markham Park.
The Leopards (21-6-2) will host Kilgore in the bi-district round, in a home-and-home series.
"We think it's a pretty tough draw winning district," Liberty-Eylau head coach Zach Fowler said. "Kilgore is a really good ball club. Their best pitcher hasn't pitched much in district. He's healthy now, we expect to see him this series.
"They have three guys that went to Austin in 2019, the last time we had a full season. They've been one of the top programs in East Texas the last four years. We have our work cutout for us, but if we play well, we think we can win this series."
The second game in the series will start Friday, in Kilgore at 5:30 p.m., with game three if necessary to follow.
"The guys have put in a lot of work in the offseason," Fowler said. "From the time we were shut down last year, the guys were getting in extra work to make sure they were ready.
"To see their hardwork culminate into a district title and a No. 1 seed in the postseason is rewarding. It's been a very special year. Our goal is to keep it going as long as possible."
Winner will face Willis Point or Kaufman in the area round next week.
